Lian Band performs Muharram music in Scotland

Iranian folklore music band ‘Lian’ has performed Muharram music at the Glasgow International Piping Festival in Scotland.

Led by renowned Iranian musician Mohsen Sharifian, the band has also donated their instrument to the Glasgow Museum.

In a media interview Sharifian said, “At the international music event of Scotland, which is the home and center of the bagpipes of the world, I, along with my daughter Liana Sharifian, introduced the music of southern Iran and its popular instruments to the world”.

Noting that as an Iranian artist, he tried to use this international opportunity to introduce the Iranian culture, he added: “Due to the coincidence of this event with the mourning month of Muharram, we made plans so that my daughter and I would give speeches about the musical rituals of these days, performing related music for the audience”.

This year’s edition of the festival was held on August 6-14, 2022 in Glasgow City.
